SD Parks & Recreation Water Safety Class for TBI Swanson Pool

FREE Water Safety Class with SD Parks & Recreation

11 am-1 pm (PST), In-Person at the Swanson Pool

3585 Governor Dr. San Diego, CA 92122

This water safety program is designed for individuals recovering from a Brain Injury. The program goals are to learn how to properly use a lifejacket, practice how to get to the side of the pool safely, practice floating skills, and learn how to help someone in trouble. If you are not sure about getting in the swimming pool, you will benefit by practicing most of the skills on the pool deck.

**Please bring a swimsuit and a towel, and dress accordingly.

The changing rooms are large. There are 2 large bathroom stalls in each of the bathrooms. There is a room heater and lockers. There are heated showers both inside and outside.

They have a mobile chair lift and floaties.

The pool is L shaped and starts with stairs at 2 1/2 feet. The deepest part is 9 feet. There are 2 guard chairs and no diving board. This is a Therapeutic pool, and the water is kept between 84-87 degrees.

Grant Gebler suffered a stroke on 11/11/2020 and his friends at Full Metal Burgers and Black Plague Brewing started this annual fundraiser to help his recovery. NOW, Grant has recovered to the point where he is back to work, so they want to give the proceeds to SDBIF! So continue the celebration from surviveHEADSTRONG and come out to see some great cars, eat awesome burgers, listen to fantastic music and raise funds for SDBIF!

It is FREE to attend, $20 to register your car for the car show.

SDBIF Brain Injury Survivor Peer-to-Peer Support Group banner

If you are a brain injury survivor and you feel like you need to talk to people who understand you, you found the support group for you!

 

This is an online support group through Zoom
happening on April 26 from 2-3:30pm

 
This group provides a safe forum for survivors to share concerns, challenges, triumphs and strategies with a group of peers. We have a loose topic for this group discussion, but this is NOT a traditional speaker group. Since this is a support group, we will have time to “check in” with everyone and chat about how everyone is doing and coping. Dr. Roslyn Knox, Executive Director of SDBIF, will be facilitating this group.

Space is limited to 15 participants to ensure quality interaction. So register early as spaces will fill up.
