About Howard House

Howard House is a 24-Hour Long and Short term Adult Residential Facility (ARF) exclusively for brain injury survivors, both male and female, ages 18 to 60 years old. The Howard House is licensed through California Community Care Licensing. The home was created in 1986, by Bill and Dee Smith, and is owned and operated by the non-profit San Diego Brain Injury Foundation (SDBIF). Howard House is a 6,000 square foot house tucked away in a tree-lined neighborhood in Escondido, California, and is the current home for up to 6 residents, each with his or her own private room.
