Heike is an Associate Professor at the San Diego Community College District’s Continuing Education’s Acquired Brain Injury Program and has taught at this program since 1989. She is responsible for developing and teaching various courses, including Brain Anatomy and Function, Memory Strategies, Book Club, Drawing, Advocacy, Advances in Neurotreatment, and Study Skills, among others. Prior to her teaching position, she worked as a speech-language pathologist for Sharp Rehabilitation’s Day Treatment Program and provided group and individual therapy from 1987-1989.
Heike emphasizes a functional, practical, and holistic approach to teach compensatory strategies and help brain injury survivors achieve their goals, whether it be going back to school or reading their first book since their injury or creating the ultimate Day Planner!
